Adventures in Distracting Public Sculpture

So there I was, escaping the terrible heat of downtown Taipei (they claim it’s springtime at the moment but my sweat glands know better) by walking through an underground mall that’s part of the country’s biggest train station.

And then…

spidey ass

A lifesize statue of a costumed Andrew Garfield that’s positioned in such a way so that it’s impossible not to ogle his bum when you’re walking down the stairs.

And sure, Spider-Man fever is sweeping Taiwan right now, but surely there are better ways to burn his image onto our retinas and brainwash us into buying more movie tickets? Like a normal, 2D poster?

(Oh, who the hell am I kidding–this is my new favourite route through the train station.)

Chapter 12

“Oh dear.”

Takaba’s stomach, deprived of food since a long-ago 7-Eleven ham sandwich, rumbled in agreement. It was probably telling that the first time he’d ever agreed with Sudou Shuu about anything was this. Continue reading

Chapter 11

When Takaba woke next it was pitch dark, and instead of a blessed few moments of complete amnesia in which he could innocently wonder how he’d gotten here and exactly whose weight was causing that dip on the other side of the bed —

He remembered. In vivid, sweaty detail. Continue reading

“Tremble, mortals, beneath my mighty plastic hammer!”

The Marvel movies seem to be as popular in Taiwan as they are in every country with a movie-going public — at least judging by the way the entire weekday programming of one cable channel here is devoted to alternating reruns of Iron Man 2 and Spider-man 2. So I probably shouldn’t have been surprised when I stumbled on a random Avengers showcase at the Miramar (美麗華) mall complex the other week. Continue reading

Fandom: Viewfinder (Finder no Hyouteki/Finder series) by Yamane Ayano

Pairing: Asami/Akihito

Warnings: Dubiously consensual drunken sexytimes. (Though to be perfectly frank, if you’ve managed to get through Viewfinder canon up to this point, you should be fine.)

A/N: Many grovelling apologies for how long it’s taken to get this chapter up. I’m making good progress with the next one though, so fingers crossed there won’t be another long wait between instalments. Thanks for everyone’s patience! ^__^

Chapter 10

*

Takaba got his ice cream. He also got a stomach ache that rendered him unable to do more than sit and groan in the cab on the way back to Taipei. At least that’s where Takaba had assumed they were going, right up until the moment Mitarai spoke to the driver in broken Chinese and gestured frantically for him to turn off the freeway. Slowly, they wound their way up steep hills, past houses and an electricity substation. They came to a stop on a wide road flanked by expensive condos with a view of the bay, which was stained pink and peach by the setting sun.

Takaba managed to pull himself up just long enough to glimpse the rest of the town spread out dizzyingly below them before falling back in his seat. “Where are we?”

Asami flicked a glance his way. “The hotel.”

Takaba’s stomach jolted — and not just because it was packed painfully tight with frozen sugar. How could he have completely forgotten about the other part of this date? The part where he was expected to jump Asami’s bones in a hotel room that had been converted into a creepy boudoir? Continue reading

A/N: Ugh, I’m really sorry about how long this chapter took. If moving country wasn’t time-consuming enough, shortly after I arrived in Taiwan I got sick with the ‘flu and spent a lovely week couch-ridden and dripping on anything and anyone who came near me. (Health really is one of those things you don’t miss until your head feels like it’s stuffed full of mareep). Anyway, thanks for your patience and, for those who celebrate it, have a merry Christmas! *crawls back under duvet*

Chapter 9

Looking back, Takaba would be annoyed at how long he’d taken to react — long enough that the man who had him pinned to the wall could get a length of cloth knotted over his eyes. And that was another thing that he was ashamed to remember panicking over, because what kind of crazy murderer would bother to blindfold someone before mutilating them in a pitch black room? Pairing: Asami/Akihito

Warnings: This chapter ends in a cliffie. Which you’re probably expecting by now, because I am a terrible person.

A/N: Special thanks to one of my betas, lesbia, for providing some much-needed quality control on this chapter at 3am…despite having 35 lines of Old English to translate for her class at 8am the next day ^^; Anyway, thanks as always for your patience between updates. I’m moving back to Taiwan this Monday (which definitely, totally, undoubtedly has nothing to do with being able to do better location research for this fic :P). So no promises about when I’ll be able to post the next chapter, but I’ll do my best! *faints*

CHAPTER 8

“Don’t you think someone should re-write these?” Sakazaki asked over dinner that night, gesturing in the direction of Sudou with his cue cards.

For a moment Takaba was sure Mitarai would say what everyone was thinking — that Sudou’s “fainting spell” during the entree was about as real as his peroxide-blond hair — but their producer only rolled his eyes. “The writers are all off on a bender somewhere. Besides, we can’t keep re-writing your intro every time something unexpected happens.” He cut his eyes to Glasses, seated on Asami’s left and staring at his former boss with an intensity usually reserved for religious visions. According to My Mum: Thor

4

I didn’t really need to re-watch Thor (2011) before going to see the newly-released Thor: The Dark World, what with fanfiction constantly reminding me of movie canon (basically, lots of heatedly pseudo-incestuous glances bewteen Loki and Thor, right?). Then again, it wasn’t like there was anything else on TV that night, so I wound up roping my mum into watching the first movie with me. My mother, senior citizen retiree, who knew nothing about Thor except what I’d told her (which was, in sum: “I’m warning you, it’s a movie all about space aliens wielding all-powerful mallets.”) (“Sounds good,” she gamely replied). So we watched.
